The Board of Investment (BoI) is going ahead with its plans to refurbish its office buildings at the World Trade Centre spending over Rs 70 million despite instructions from the Finance Ministry to cut down expenses.
The BoI is planning to refurbish part of the 27th floor and carryout refurbishing on another complete floor as they believe that the existing set up was not good enough.
The refurbishing on the 27th floor includes removing existing partitions including fixtures and floor carpet and installing new partitions, fixtures, flooring, furniture for senior staff including the Deputy Director General.
Last week the new Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa during a meeting with officials called for reduced expenditure of state institutions.
