The Agency for Brazil Cooperation (ABC) has agreed to provide technical support for the development of the livestock sector here. The technical cooperation by the agency will be related to animal nutrition, animal breeding, farm administration and management as well as milk transportation, storage and maintaining the quality of milk. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and the Brazilian delegation. The delegation included Brazilian Deputy High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Monica Nasser, Prof. Odilon Gomes Pereira, Department of Animal Sciency, Federal University Vicosa, ABC representatives Andrea Von Rakiwisthe Tillman and Nelci Peres Caixeta. The Minister addressing the gathering said farmers here lack scientific knowledge in cattle management hence the weak dairy industry.
