The Cabinet approved that the Bread Ordinance of No.13 of 1864 which regulated the sale of bread and prevent adulteration of the bread offered for sale to be revoked.
The government explained in a statement that the decision was made because certain provisions of the Bread Ordinance do not correspond with the regulations of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Act No. 09 of 2003.
This proposal for the revoke was made by Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security Nalin Fernando yesterday in the cabinet meeting.
