All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association (ACBOA) announced that the price of a 450 gram loaf of bread will be reduced by Rs. 10 with effect from midnight today.
The ACBOA were on the move to drop the price of bread in the hopes of recovering lost demand.
In addition, Serendib Flour Mills and Prima Flour Company declared the price of Serendib and Prima Wheat Flour will be reduced by Rs. 15 per kilo today.
The prices of bakery products increased several times last year as forex shortages reduced wheat imports, amid a global price spike, in parallel with price hikes in eggs, wheat and fuel.
