A stat-run Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus heading from Colombo to Point Pedro, Jaffna crashed on to a tree in Chilaw today leaving behind 21 persons injured, Police said.
The bus had veered off the road close to the Deduru Oya bridge.
Police with the help of residents managed to rescue the driver who was struck.
Investigations are underway.
