A businessman who was missing for four days has been arrested for trying to give the impression that he was abducted.
Police said that the businessman who was identified as Sarath Kumara (49) residing in Kolonna, went missing on Wednesday August 16..
Later the van which was used by the businessman was detected near a cemetery in Uduwawa area in Kolonna by the police. There was chili powder strewn on the seats of the vehicles.
Police initially believed that the businessman had been abducted as he was returning from the bank with cash.
Thereafter the police have conducted investigations to see whether the businessman went missing due to abduction or the businessman deliberately had gone into hiding.
However, some unidentified caller tipped off the Mirihana police that the businessman had gone into hiding in the Delkanda area off Nugegoda.
According to information received the police have gone to the Delkanda market and arrested the businessman who had hid inside a three wheeler .
The police have arrested the three wheel driver and a man who supported the businessman by providing lodging.
Police media spokesman, SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that the businessman had Rs 250,000 in hand and had bank receipts of depositing money at some banks, the money and the receipts have been taken into police custody.
