Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) trade unions involved in a protest campaign have vowed to intensify their trade union action against moves to restructure the organization, despite a stern warning from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
CEB employees staged a major protest opposite the CEB headquarters at Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha, Colombo 2, holding up traffic for more than an hour.
A section employees involved a sick leave campaign also took part in the protest.
The union representatives addressing the media said they would intensify their trade union action, if the government fails to reconsider the sections in restructuring process which they say violates the rights of employees..
They claimed that the government has so far not approached them to resolve the matter.
However, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Wednesday addressing a meeting said that the CEB employees have two months to decide.

Meanwhile CEB operations have been affected due to the ongoing trade union action with delays in several areas.
