The CESS levied on imported cement has been increased by the Government with effect from June 17.
The Investment Promotion Ministry has announced the CESS levy on 1 KG of artificially coloured or uncoloured cement has been increased from Rs. 3.00 to Rs. 5.00.
Besides, the CESS of Rs. 5.00 for 1 KG of Portland cement imported in packages of 50 KG or less has been brought up to Rs. 8.00.
Thus, the CESS on other Portland cement brought in packaging of over 50 KG or more is raised from Rs. 3.00 to Rs. 5.00.
