Twenty-three people have died from COVID-19 on Tuesday (23), Director General of Health Dr. Asela Gunewardena confirmed today (24).
Out of the 24 deaths, 18 are above 60 years of age while four of the deceased are between 30 to 59 years. One death of a person below 30 years of age also was reported yesterday.
This increases the total death toll from COVID-19 to 14,205.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella today announced that the booster dose for COVID-19 will be administered to all above 20 years of age soon.
At present, frontline health workers, those above 60 years and suffering from health conditions are given the Pfizer booster dose.
The Epidemiology Unit said 380,213 people have received the booster dose.
