Discussions will be held between the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Petroleum Private Tanker Owners' Association today (16), Chairman of CPC Sumith Wijesinghe said.
Fuel distribution network around the country has been severely affected due to the decision by owners of private petroleum transporting bowsers to suspend fuel distribution.
“The owners are demanding an increase in the allowance given for fuel transport following CEYPETCO’s fuel hike. We are considering increasing their allowance, but are unable to increase the allowance given for vehicle maintenance,” Mr. Wijesinghe said.
The Association said over 500 private bowsers will refrain from fuel distribution from today. The majority of CPC’s fuel transport network is done by private bowsers.
