Cabinet has approved the release of Rs. 11 billion for the general election scheduled for November 14.
Though Parliament has been dissolved and arrangements made to conduct the general election, no provision has been allocated for the conduct of the election under Budget 2024, the Government Information Department noted.
As such, as per powers vested with the President by Article 150(4) of the Constitution to issue the necessary funds from the Consolidate Fund, Cabinet has decided to grant approval to the President to release Rs. 5 billion from the Consolidated Fund and to allocate Rs. 6 billion for the expenses to be settled from the Vote on Account expected to be submitted in 2025, the Information Department added.
