The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has been given permission by the Cabinet of Ministers to lower the water charges in accordance with the tariff formula.
In light of this, household users’ water rates will drop by 7%, government hospitals’ by 4.5%, and educational institutions’ by 6.3%.
The decision was made in accordance with the agreement signed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to Minister Bandula Gunawardana, the cabinet spokesman.
