Cabinet has decided to call for expressions of interest for the disposal of Bogambara Prison land within the Kandy Municipal Council Limits.
The land is now under the Urban Development Authority.
The Bogambara Prison premises and prison building have been identified under the World Heritage Building Conservation, and due to the cultural value of these premises, there is a potential to use these premises for cultural and tourism promotional activities.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal by the Minister of Urban Development, Construction and Housing to call for investment proposals for disposal of Bogambara Prison land in Kandy on a 50-year lease basis
