Minister Gamini Lokuge was sworn in as the new minister of power while Pavithara Wanniarachachi was appointed as the new Minister of Energy by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa this evening.
Meanwhile, S.B Dissanayake too was appointed as the new minister of Industries.
The President Media unit states that both former Minister of Power Udaya Gammanpila and Minister of industries, Wimal Weerawansa have been removed from their respective ministries. Minister Gamini Lokuge previously held the Ministry of Energy. While Minister Pavithara Wanniarachachi held the Ministry of tourism.
Minister Gamani Lokuge says that minister Udaya Gammanpila was talking against the government therefore he was sacked. Ministers in the government should protect the government he further elaborated,
The cabinet reshuffle took place following 11 parties held an event and made controversial statements criticizing the government and key members of the Rajapaksa Regime.
