The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) officials have been called to the Cabinet today (Mar. 4).
The procedure and justification for the most recent pay increase that was granted to staff members will be taken up at the meeting.
There was controversy over the CBSL’s 70 percent pay raise for staff members, a decision that was sharply attacked by both opposition and ruling party lawmakers.
Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, the Governor of the CBSL last week, requested the President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, to provide them an opportunity to explain to the Members of Parliament about the recent increase.
