A Canadian citizen of Sri Lankan origin passed away at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning after collapsing at the airport's Arrival Lounge.
The victim, identified as Buddhika Karunaratne (54), was originally from Beddagana.
He had arrived in the country early this morning on a flight from Qatar with his mother. Airport police said he suffered a heart attack.
The victim's body is currently at the Negombo Base Hospital and a post-mortem is to take place today.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
