Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith today (11) said action would shortly be taken to resort to court action regarding one of the issues to seek justice for those affected in the Easter Sunday attacks.
The Cardinal at a news conference in Colombo said that he was not satisfied with the CID investigations carried out in the attacks.
“Regarding one of the issues we will soon be resorting to court action. We will disclose the details in future”, the Cardinal said without elaborating.
He said, he was also prepared to seek International Criminal Court (ICC) intervention seeking justice, but hope that the Government would not lead them to take such action.
He said, he was still awaiting for a copy of the report on the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) on Easter Sunday bombings.
The Cardinal said that he hoped the issue raised by him during his evidence before the Commission had been provided with answers in the Commission report.
“Our people are not ready to tolerate for too long”, he said.
Cardinal Malcolm said one of the requests was to find out who was responsible for such attacks and as to why they carried out these attacks.
“I recently met with the affected parties and their main need is to find out why such attack was carried out”, he said.
