Catholic faithful walk over 3km carrying cross on Good Friday
A group of Catholic devotees carried a large cross for over three kilometres as a part of the Good Friday Way of the Cross devotion, undeterred by the scorching sun and barefooted, this yesterday, on the 18th of April.
They journeyed from the Church of St. Anthony in Dikowita Hendala to the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Palliyawatta - Wattala, expressing their deep faith and devotion.
Under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Anton Nuwan Tharaka, the Parish Priest of Wellapalliya in Wattala Deanery, Salesian priests and brothers of the Don Bosco Congregation delivered reflections at each station of the Way of the Cross, sharing real-life experiences, which added a unique and meaningful touch to the observance.
