Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga today said it was a mistake to bring in former President Maithripala Sirisena as the Presidential candidate for the 2015 election.
Ms Kumaratunga, addressing a press conference said that she regretted the decision of supporting Sirisena.
Former President Kumaratunga was instrumental in introducing Sirisena as the Presidential candidate of the UNP led ‘Yahapalanaya’ Government.
She also ruled out any chances of her son, Vimukthi Kumaratunga entering politics.
Ms Kumaratunga said she was not interested in taking over as SLFP Chairmanship and that she preferred that a younger person takes over the post.
