The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) staged a one-day token island-wide strike today (31) citing several demands, including putting a halt to what the union calls illegal transfers of doctors.
The strike commenced at 8.00am across all government-run hospitals in the country.
However, the union stated that the strike will not be held at maternity hospitals, children's hospitals, the Apeksha Hospital, specialised kidney units, tri-forces hospitals and the National Institute of Mental Health.
These images were captured at the National Hospital in Colombo.
