Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka from November 18 to 21 at the invitation of the Sri Lankan government, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
Councilor Shen, who is Chinese President Xi Jinping's Special Envoy is to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new President of Maldives Mohamed Muizzu on November 17 in Malé following an invitation extended by the President-elect.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today that unilateral action by the UK and other countries in imposing sanctions on certain individuals do not assist but serve to complicate the national reconciliation process underway in Sri Lanka.
