The Court of Appeal today granted leave to proceed over the writ petition seeking an order to annul the gazette over the daily minimum wage of estate workers to Rs.1,000.
The writ petition filed by twenty Regional Plantation Companies (RPCs) challenging the gazette notification is scheduled to be taken up for hearing on May 5.
The Court also directed office of the Registrar to serve notice to the 18 respondents including Minister of Labour and Commissioner of Department of Labour.
The petition was taken up before a bench consisting of Justice Arjuna Obeyesekere and Justice Mayadunne Corea.
