A fire erupted in a coir Mill at Kalpitiya, Navy junction was doused by Navy yesterday , police said.
The police said that the choir mill belonged Sabir Ali was engulfed in flames yesterday night as the owner of the mill and some employees were engaging in some repairs (welding some mettle) in the mill.
Police suspect that during the welding a spark which accidently fell on the coconut husks might have started the fire. The fire was doused by using water bowsers.
They said that the damage caused by the fire is yet to be assessed.
