Five new appointments, including the appointment of a High Commissioner, have been approved by the Committee on High Posts today (17), according to the Communication Department of Parliament.
Accordingly, the committee has approved the following new appointments:
• Mr. P.R.S. Goonawardena - High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Maldives
• Dr. M.M. S.S.B. Yalegama - Non-Cabinet Ministry of State Plantation Enterprise Reforms
• Mr. S.C.J. Devendra - Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation
• Prof. M.A.R.M. Fernando - Chairman of Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL)
• Mr. J. M. Soosaithasan - Chairman of State Mortgage and Investment Bank
The Committee on High Posts convened in Parliament last week, chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
Ministers Keheliya Rambukwella and Nimal Siripala de Silva were present at the meeting along with Members of Parliament Johnston Fernando, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Thalatha Athukorala, Udaya Gammanpila, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, and Dharmalingam Siddharthan.

Police have arrested the suspect connected to the sexual assault on a female doctor at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital today morning in Galnewa.
