The compensation offered to Sri Lankan foreign employment migrant workers in the event of death while employed abroad has been increased to Rs. 2 million.
The former compensation of Rs. 600,000 has been increased by Rs. 1.4 million, chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, Kosala Wickramasinghe said.
He said discussions were being held on the possibility of awarding scholarships to the children of migrant workers under the President's Fund.
