Congratulatory messages have poured in for Dinesh Priyantha Herath for his achievement at the Paralympics Tokyo 2020 games
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa were among those who posted congratulatory messages for Heath.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa:
“Congratulations Dinesh Priyantha Herath for bringing glory to our mother land by winning the first ever Paralympics Tokyo2020 gold medal in the history of Sri Lanka. Your service in fighting for Sri Lanka as a soldier & putting us in the international sports map is remarkable.”
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa:
“Congratulations to Dinesh Priyantha Herath who won the 1st Gold medal for Sri Lanka in a Paralympic. He has set the new world record in the F46 men’s Javelin Throw, recording a distance of 67.79 metres.”
Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa:
“Congratulations Dinesh Priyantha on creating history at the Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020! He sets a new World Record in the F46 Javelin Throwing event with 67.79m and wins the Gold Medal. A very proud moment for all Sri Lankans.”
