Corruption free politics required to develop the country says President

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake told thousands  of party supporters  that the NPP have understood the expectations, purpose of as well as weight of the people’s trust which is placed on them. 

“We have started methodical journey towards converting the very destructive society into very developed one, which comprised with very developed social ideologies and economy”, he said.

He was addressing the NPP May Day celebrations held at the Galle face green with the participation of large crowds. 
The event which was themed “Rata Hadana Jana Balaya Pelagasena May Rallya (Mobilising people's power to build the country, | May Day Rally)” was held under the patronage of the President.

 “We received a country which did not have a foundation, in other words a sail ship without a mast, a country and society which was floating about which lacked a direction, in order to change this we should first lay the foundation” he said.
He added that during the time spent the government had taken maximum efforts to create the strong foundation. 
“In order to create the strong foundation pillars are needed to secure it, the main pillar is non corrupt politics, without it that pillar the country cannot be developed” he said.
He said secondly national peace is required as the second pillar of strength as people require national unity, thirdly a strong state service is required as the next pillar and added that they would start on strengthening state services by recruiting 30,000 more people and make state services efficient and people friendly.
