Puttalam Police have arrested a husbad and wife in connection with the theft of gold jewellery worth Rs 2.7 million.
The couple are alleged to have gained entry to a house in Puttalam town on Sunday (20) evening and escaped with the jewellery.
After conducting investigations, the Puttalam Police were able to arrest the couple yesterday with four gold bangles, two gold chains, two gold pendants, six gold rings, five pairs of gold earrings, two silver rings and several other jewellery items stolen from the house.
The suspects are a 41-year-old man and his 31-year-old wife. Both are residents of Puttalam.
The suspects are due to be produced before the Puttalam Magistrate's Court today.
