The Colombo Fort Magistrate has issued a court order against the demonstration slated to be staged by Trade Union Activists this afternoon (April 04).
The order was released after taking a request made by the Officer in Charge of Colombo Fort Police Station into consideration.
Therefore, the protestors are barred from heading towards the Presidential Secretariat, President’s House and the Ministry of Finance premises through several roads in Colombo – Olcott Mawatha, Lotus Road, York Street, Bank of Ceylon Mawatha, Sir Baron Jayathilake Mawatha, Baladhaksha Mawatha, Chaithya Road, Janadhipathi Mawatha and part of Galle Road from NSA Roundabout and Galle Face Green Roundabout between 12 noon to 4.00 p.m. today (April 04).
Accordingly, the Magistrate has prohibited the protestors from entering the aforesaid premises causing havoc to public properties and inhibiting the public servants.
Inter University Student Federation (IUSF) Convenor Wasntha Mudalige, Health Professionals Association President Ravi Kumudesh along with several other Trade Union Activists have been named as the respondents in this court order.
Furthermore, the Police have been instructed to take necessary legal actions if the protestors turn out to take on any wrongful behaviour.
