The National People's Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and 25 others have been ordered not to take part in any protests around the Elections Commission office in Rajagiriya today that inconvenience pedestrians and obstructs vehicle traffic.
The NPP has organized a protest outside Elections Commission office today afternoon. The protest is to be held against the postponing of the local government elections.
The Fort Magistrate Courts in its order has prohibited the entry into the Election Secretariat premises through the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital, Cotta Road and Sarana Road.
National Executive Member of NPP, MP Sunil Handunetti said that the NPP plans to call a set of protest campaigns starting from today (June 8).
The court order was issued considering requests made by the Welikada Police officers.
