Alumni of the University of Peradeniya were honoured with Distinguished Alumni Awards at the 83rd Founders’ Day, held at the Senate Room of the University.
The Chief Guest was the Ambassador of Canada to Sri Lanka, Eric Walsh. The Founders’ Day address was delivered by former Vice Chancellor, Professor M.D. Lamawansa.
In his address, Professor Lamawansa said, “As we reflect on our journey, it becomes clear that the true strength of this University lies in its people - especially its alumni, spread across the globe and successful in countless fields, our alumni are living proof of Peradeniya’s excellence.”
Flower garlands were also placed on the statue of the founder Sir William Ivor Jennings, by Vice Chancellor Professor Terrence Mudhajith, former Vice Chancellor and Governor of the Central Province S.M.S. Abeykoon, and Ambassador Walsh.
