The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today rejected the bail application of Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen’s wife Ayesha Shiabdeen and her father Mohamed Shiabdeen over the death of a domestic aide.
Considering the bail application filed before Colombo Chief Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya today, the Court refused to grant bail citing ongoing investigations.
The lawyer appearing on behalf of Rishad Bathidueen’s wife requested the court to consider bail application since their two children are currently in the custody of her mother who tested positive for COVID-19 recently.
The Court was also informed that the two suspects have not been vaccinated either. Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris opposed granting bail to Mr Mohamed Shiabdeen.
Earlier, when the case was heard last week, the Colombo Magistrate’s Court remanded Ayesha Shiabdeen, her father, her brother and the broker who brought the girl to the Bathiudeen residence until September 6.
