(UPDATED) – The Disaster Management Centre said today as that so far 355 have been reported missing and 366 others are still missing due to the landslides and floods across the country.
The casualty figures were revised as search and rescue operations in the affected areas continued.
Fresh incidents of landslides were reported though flood waters were receding in most areas.
However, residents in the Colombo and Gampaha districts have been told to be cautious as there was a possibility of water levels rising.
Residents living close to the rightside bank of the Kelani river in Kelaniya have been told to vacate their homes as a precaution as water levels in the area were rising.
However, water levels of the Kelaniya river in Hanwella was reducing, Director of the Irrigation Department L.S.Sooriyabandara said.
As the search operations continued more areas affected by landslides have been located.
