A final decision on power cuts will be taken today following the recommendation by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to the Ministry of Power to impose scheduled two and half hour power cuts daily.
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has already given permission to impose power cuts, CEB sources said.
Earlier the Additional General Manager (AGM - Transmission) of the CEB P.W. Hendahewa through the General Manager CEB M.R. Ranatunga had conveyed the decision to Secretary to the Ministry of Power, Ms. Wasantha Perera about the need to impose power cuts.
According to the recommendation the power cuts will take place from 11 am to 6 pm for one hour and 45 minutes and another 45 minutes within the 6 pm to 9 pm peak time.
