Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuyacontha made his first official visit to the Navy Headquarters since assuming office as Defence Secretary, yesterday November 06, where he was welcomed with a Guard of Honour by Navy troops and received by Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, Commander of the Western Naval Command.
During his visit, Defence Secretary Thuyacontha met with Navy Commander Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and engaged in discussions on key operational matters. Senior officers presented an overview of the Navy's structure, role, and ongoing operations.
In his address, Thuyacontha praised the Navy's contributions to national security, including its efforts to protect marine resources and combat illegal trafficking. The visit concluded with an exchange of mementos and an entry in the Visitors' book.
