Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) met National Defence Minister of the Republic of Turkey Hulusi Akar lastThursday on the sidelines of 15th International Defence Industry Fair 2021 (IDEF’21) held in Istanbul, Turkey.
Apart from the discussion on arrangements of IDEF’21, both high officials strengthened the defence ties between two countries during the session, Defense Ministry said.
IDEF’21 was held from 17 to 20 Aug 2021, under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Turkey, hosted by Ministry of National Defence, under the management and responsibility of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation and organized by TÜYAP Fairs and Exhibitions Organization Inc. at TÜYAP Fair Convention and Congress Centre.
IDEF’21 exhibited a wide range of defence products in diverse fields including weapons, land vehicles, electronic military devices, naval platform solutions, aviation systems, logistics vehicles, supply equipment and security devices.
The four-day long session also included panels on various topics such as space studies, future technologies and digital transformation.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Turkey His Excellency M.R. Hassen, Sri Lankan Defence Ministry Military Liaison Officer Brig. Dinesh Nanayakkara and the Military Assistant to the Defence Secretary, Col. K.W. Jayaweera were also present.
