Cabinet has given the go-ahead to introduce a "digital gateway" for passengers who depart through government approved platforms.
The proposal was made by Airport and Aviation (Sri Lanka) (Limited). The company has planned to perform several multiple extensions in order to enhance efficiency of the monitoring activities of Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport, the Government Information Department said.
Accordingly, it has been proposed to implement a pilot project for introducing a digital gateway / access for passengers to depart across platform one based on the concept ‘One Identity’ of the International Aviation Association.
Check in of passengers will be an easy process to complete through confirming that they possess a valid digital passport for the identification of the passenger by installation of electronic door / face recognition machines at the access the Departure Lounge.
Accordingly, Cabinet granted approval to implement the pilot project.
