The distribution of organic fertiliser for the ongoing Maha season commenced today amidst widespread protests by farmers across the island.
Minister of Agriculture, Mahindananda Aluthgamage told the Sunday Times that the government has planned to distribute 50,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer to Ampara, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa areas.
The Minister added that the organic fertilizer would be available at Govi Jana Sewa offices.
