A drug addict who stole more than 10 laptops and computers from private institutions from several areas in the suburbs of Western Province has been arrested, Police said.
The robberies had been carried out in the Nawagamuwa, Pugoda, Kosgama, Mt Lavina and Awissawella areas.
The 28 year old man from Walasmulla was residing in the Nugegoda area.
Among the robberies carried out are robbing two lap tops and Rs 800,000 cash and jewellery items from a garment factory in Nawagamuwa, two laptops from another garment factory in Nawagamuwa, four laptops and electrical items from a sales outlet in Ratmalana and a laptop from a garment factory in Pugoda.
He also had stolen two laptops from a private factory in Kosgama and along with Rs 280,000 cash , two laptops, and a tab from a garment factory in Awissawella.
The youth had entered these buildings by posing off as an employee, hidden himself inside the building and the stolen the places at night, Police said.
