The Election Commission (EC) has outlined the procedure for securing transportation services for individuals with physical disabilities to vote in the 2024 Presidential Election.
According to a statement from the EC, applications for transportation services can be submitted by the individual in need or by someone on their behalf.
These applications can be obtained from the District Election Office, Divisional Secretariat, Grama Niladhari Office, or through the official website at www.elections.gov.lk.
Completed applications must be submitted to the relevant District Returning Officer or Deputy or Assistant Commissioner of Elections at least seven days before the election, which falls on September 14, 2024.
Applicants are required to include a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner with the completed application to confirm their need for special transportation, ensuring smooth processing by the election officers.
