The Election Commission today issued guidelines on news coverage and publication on Election Day, November 14 2024.
The Election Commission announced that the Department of Government Information will facilitate coverage and publication related to voting activities of key political figures. This includes candidates, as well as current and former presidents, prime ministers, state ministers, and members of Parliament.
Officials from the Government Information Department, along with permitted media personnel, will cover these events,to maintain the integrity of the election process, all recorded images and videos will be distributed to media institutions at or after 4:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Media outlets are strictly advised to refrain from publishing or broadcasting any of this content before the designated time (4.00 pm), the EC said.
