The Election Commission has named Bandula Lal Bandarigoda as the elected Member of Parliament for the Galle District from the SJB in place of Manusha Nanayakkara who lost his seat following a Supreme Court ruling.
Bandarigoda polled the third highest number of preferential votes in the Galle District in the 2020 general election.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
