The Election Commission will this week consult Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to discuss a date for the local Government election.
The consultation will focus on the best timeframe the government could offer on holding the local Government election and thereafter the Commission will decide on a date.
One of the proposals from the political parties last week was that the Election Commission first discusses with the Government and decide on the date.
The postal voting was initially rescheduled for this week while the date for the poll was fixed for April 25.
The Commission has already announced that the postal voting needs to be rescheduled.
