The Police arrested two suspects in Kiribathgoda Wednesday (January 18) for stealing wires from lamp posts on the Katunayake Airport Highway.
The complaint was lodged by an Electricity Board officer who had received a message that wires were hanging out of a lamp post on Monday.
In further investigation, it was revealed that wires worth Rs. 2.4 million of four lamp posts have been stolen in the Wedikanda area using an axe.
Two suspects aged 30 and 43 and residents of Wattala and Hunupitiya were arrested by the Police in the noon of Wednesday. After questioning them, Police were able of recover the stolen wires.
The suspects are to be produced to the Mahara Magistrate Court on Thursday, while the Kiribathgoda Police are conducting further investigation.

Severe punishment should be given for stealing government resources on the other hand the government officials whoever it may be from the lower to the higher ranks too should be punished if indulged in stealing in any form.
