Professor Tissa Vitharana, veteran politician and former leader of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP), passed away this morning 13, February 2026 at the age of 91 at his residence in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte after a long standing illness.
Born on August 30, 1934, he served as a Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister, and Governor of the North Central Province from 2019 to 2020.
