Veterinary surgeons of the Wildlife Department have commenced treating an wildl elephant which has sustained gun shot injuries and found in the Karuwalagaswewa area, officials said.
The elephant believed to be around 25 years of age has sustained several gun shot injuries including one on the head.
The elephant was found in an abandoned paddy field.
Police are looking for the person believed to be a hunter who had shot the animal .
