Eleven men were arrested while digging for buried treasure in Nawagattegama area, Puttalam district, police said.
The treasure hunters, aged between 19 and 58, were arrested in two different locations with one location being a garden of a house. Most of them were residents of the same area.
Police said the pooja items and mining equipment were also taken into police custody.
