The excise department has introduced a new digital barcode system to keep track of the locally manufactured liquor bottles.
A senior official of the excise department told the Times Online that they have planned to strictly implement the digital barcode system on locally man fractured bottles from the first of April.
He explained that from April forward the locally distilled liquor bottles should contain the digital bar code in the bottle label enabling the excise department to identify that the bottle is issued through a proper process.
He added that many local distilleries are known to secretly issue bottles evading excise taxes therefore this measure is taken to ensure that the local liquor manufacturers pay excise taxes without secretly issuing liquor evading taxes.
