A 31-year-old Excise officer who allegedly distorted a popular traditional new year song of veteran singer Rohana Beddage and released it to the social media has been remanded until April 22 by the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate courts today.
The officer hailing from Thalthuoya was arrested following complaints from former State Minister Prof Channa Jayasumana and the singer Beddage himself.
The suspect was arrested in the Kuliyapitiya area by the Computer Crimes Division in Wariyapola.
He had distorted the ‘Soorya Mangalya’ song of Beddage.
