The Automated Facial Recognize System (AFRS) installed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) helped to detect an wanted underworld criminal, Police said.
The suspect was trying to use a forged passport and leave the country.
He was known to be an associate of ‘Angoda Lokka’, an underworld gang leader and was identified as Ellawalage Sarath Kumara alias chitty (47).
He was wanted for trafficking drugs, for a murder and possession of firearms.
